National Geographic HQ Display Case

Role: Senior Graphic Designer / Exhibitions Designer
Primary Client: National Geographic Society.
Key Demographic: Internal staff of the National Geographic Society and outside guests.
Total Cost of Project: $60,000

The National Geographic Museum team was tasked with developing a 20’ wide exhibit case showcasing objects from around the world, while highlighting the National Geographic Society’s rich legacy. I was the lead graphic design creative and worked with one other three-dimensional exhibition designer to bring this exhibit to life.

One of my biggest challenges was selecting an appropriate color palette that worked with the beauty and importance of the objects, but without distracting attention away from them.

Further design steps were taken to increase the visual appeal, such as highlighting individual continents using vinyl and poplar, to create more depth and to add another visual element into the hierarchy of the overall design.
